Located near Duveneck Square in Covington, KY, Golden Gelato serves authentic gelato and sorbetto made in small batches. We combine the traditional Italian hot process with local ingredients honoring the dessert’s Italian origins and our Kentucky roots.

We make all of our ice creams from scratch - that means no artificial flavorings or pre-made pastes. Our gelatos are 100% natural and our sorbets are 100% natural and vegan.

Speaking of only serving you the best we can find, we partnered with Deeper Roots Coffee because what’s more Italian than gelato and espresso? Enjoy a cup or take home a whole bag of beans.

What’s the Italian word for ”OMG!!!”

Here’s a little tip - try an affogato and thank us later. Yes, that’s espresso and gelato, and yes it is as delicious as it looks. Just don’t blame us when you can’t stop craving another one.

What makes gelato so special?

I mean, isn’t this basically just ice cream?

You can call it ice cream! Really, we do it all the time.

But honestly it’s so much more. Ask anyone who’s been to Italy and come home with a craving for some authentic stracciatella or fragola. There’s just something indescribable about the sweet indulgence of a gelato.

The bold, artisanal flavors and simple ingredients are part of a culture and tradition spanning hundreds of years, a Renaissance, and not just one, but two volcanos! Yeah… take that, ice cream.

Biggest difference? Gelato has up to 70% less air than modern ice creams. That’s why ice cream is often described using words like “light and creamy.” Gelato is more dense and rich, or intensely-flavored.
